Glitter Tape Notebook @ Dream A Little Bigger

If by some chance you haven't already heard, I went back to school a few weeks ago! This has been super exciting and I wanted to get prepared for school in a familiar way. I decided to continue my longstanding tradition of decorating my school supplies only now I'm sharing the results with you!

Happy (belated) Blog Birthday! 1 Year of Cwafty

(My actual blog birthday was Aug. 22, but last week there were complications)
Let me start off this post with a big WOW! It's been a year already? It flew by, let me tell you. It was one of the busiest years of my short life and I loved every minute of it. Seriously, it's been a level of awesome I didn't know was possible to achieve.

July Whimseybox Review: Losing My Marbles

**This company is no longer in business**
This box was sent late due to Whimseybox switching over to a new HQ so that's why this review is so late in the month.

Also I've got another friend enjoying the whimsey with me this month! But you'll get to meet her and check out what we did below.

Tutorial Tuesday: Batman Notebook

Nananananananana BATMAN! Batman is my all time favorite super hero. He pretty much kicks butt in all of his incarnations and I have a special place in my heart for the 1960's-Adam-West version all the way to the Dark-Knight-Christian-Bale trilogy. I have a thing for crazy guys and so the joker also has a whole chamber of my heart to himself (his girlfriend Harley Quinn as well!)

Since I started school last week I decided to give some of my little moleskin notebooks a facelift. There will be two more notebook tutorials coming up, a bonus post at DALB this saturday, then my next tutorial. This project is super simple and quick, plus you get to play with gold-leaf which is very fun.

Cwafty Update #5

Hi guys! Long time, no blog. Well it's been about a week or so, so I thought I should give you guys a little explanation and tell you some other stuff I've been meaning to get to.

Traditional visit to the local cafe for first day of school! Normally I don't indulge this much.

Touring Through Blogland!

Hey everyone! Today I have been asked to participate in the Tour through Blogland. I've seen a few of these posts from blogs I follow throughout the summer but I was surprised and thrilled when Havalah from Sisters, What! asked me to join up.

So let me say thanks once again to Havalah who shares a blog with her three sisters, hence the name. She is super sweet and quite talented. Their blog has a little bit of everything but my favorites are the refashions/DIY clothing posts and the nerdy stuff! (but who does that really surprise?)

For those of you new here, Hi! My name is RaChil and I am the crafty mind behind The Cwafty Blog. I'm a 20 year old cat lady in training, book worm, nerd extraordinaire, full time student (tomorrow!), part time retail drone, and part time professional blogger. I live with three of my best friends (and our three cats) in a small two bedroom apartment. My life is a crazy compendium of glitter, books, cats, coffee, hair dye, long nights, and bright colors, I really wouldn't have it any other way.

For the rest of the tour read below!

Abstract Tie-Dye Button Up @ DALB

Whooo hoooo! Celebrating the end of summer with some tie-dye awesomeness! I picked up this cute but very in need of some pizazz shirt while thrifting with my Aunts the other weekend.

Great color scheme! You know how I am with purple and green.

Head on over to Dream A Little Bigger for the full tutorial for this rocking shirt.

Cutting Up: Hair Update!

So I once again have become bored with my hair and since I am going to be going back to school soon, I thought it was time for a new look. I am super cheap though. Well lets call it frugal, that sounds better. You guys know I'm a DIY over BUY kinda gal, so I did this whole thing as cost effectually as possible.

Here's the most recent shot of how my hair has been looking recently:

I went red about two months ago, but as you can see red washes out so quickly. Unless you like cold showers, which I am not a fan of.  Clearly my roots have grown out though, so that also contributes to the problem. I needed a new color and a style change quick!Read more below to find out exactly what I did to it!

Talk About It Tuesday: Tuesday Night Slam

*Welcome to TuesdayyyyyyNight Slaaaaaaam!*

As an avid sports apathist (definition: one who is apathetic about something. I apparently had to make that up because I swore it was a word), it would make sense that the only sport I've ever shown any interest in would be fake. That's right, I'm starting off this rant with the fact that I know that the WWE is more world entertainment than it is legitimate wrestling, I had to cut you guys off before you ask because that's always the first question I get when I finally tell someone about my odd fandom. I am more than fine with that fact. I am into wrestling for the nostalgia, sheer amount of content, the acting, and the characters. Trust me, there's more to wrestling than just sweaty guys beating each other up.

Guest Post: Mad Hatter Coffee Cup @ Punk Projects

Hey everyone!
Today I am over at my friend Katie's blog, Punk Projects, sharing how to make this Mad Hatter Coffee Cup. Or teacup, I don't judge. I'm a hardcore caffeine girl at heart but I enjoy a nice cup of earl grey in honor of Captain Picard every once in a while.

I teach you a great method for making your own quote mugs, even if you're not a fan of Alice in Wonderland.

You should also go explore Punk Projects if you love scrap booking, card making, Star Trek, tea, reading, or really awesome hand painted shoes.
(Hint: These are my favorite posts)

Happy World Cat Day!!

Somehow I was not aware until about 10 minutes ago of two very important facts.
  1. There is a World Cat Day.
  2. And that splendiferous holiday is today!
So without further ado:

Cwafty Recall: Hopefully the first of as few as possible

I have some bad news guys! Two of my projects have through time deteriorated and I couldn't live with myself letting you guys think these projects worked as I described previously.

(I will have disclaimers at the top of the projects, and caution signs in the tutorial gallery. I hope to have solutions to these problems at some point though.)

Here they are:
The Bright Idea Globe
Clearly I didn't think that the wire being in water would be a problem. You may be able to counteract this problem by using glycerin instead of water, or trying to find a rust proof wire. I hope to try another one soon and will update you guys on any improvements.

Teacup Planter:
The problem I originally discussed in this tutorial (getting odd bubbles in the paint after watering) still happens. I'm sorry it took me that long to notice, and write this recall, but at least you guys know now.

I'm sorry again!

W.I.P Wednesday: Dying For The Weekend

The title of today's post makes me think of a pop punk-rock band I would probably guiltily like. Anyone one else? Nah, just me? That's cool. Moving on.

What a great color palette!

Anyway, I actually did the dying on Monday, but "Dying For Monday" sounded depressing (I'm not a Monday person.) I dyed a surprise something for Dream A Little Bigger next weekend and I colored/dyed my hair. I like to say dye but apparently the proper beauty term is color.

I shall reveal what I did to my hair on Saturday!

Tutorial Tuesday: Majora's Mask Clock

I love video games, which I've mentioned on the blog before once or twice.  Video games are very inspiring to me because I'm a gigantic fan-girl. The particular clock is from a video game I have not gotten very far in, but have watched many people play and will one day conquer myself. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

One of the starting roles in this game is a giant evil moon that is slowly/quickly plummeting to the surface of Termina. You have 3 easily manipulated days to stop it, therefore time is of the essence and to represent that there is an iconic clock tower. I have wanted to make a clock from it's face for a long time. Read about the results below!

Purple Mountains Majesty Necklace @ Dream A Little Bigger

Guys, confession time. I feel like I have literally lost my mind this week. I have been so stressed/ frazzled with some last minute complications with going back to school that I dropped the ball with blogging. Whoops, I promise my brain will be back on straight by Tuesday. Well I hope, don't hate me if it's not.

Seeing as I wanted situations like this never to effect my contributing I wrote 2-3 tutorials for Allison in advance. Here's this weeks project, my Purple Mountains Majesty Necklace.
